ABOUT

In July 2005, five of us met at Rivera Bowling Lanes to discuss continuing the Virginia Pro Tour. The five of us included Ken Sizemore, Gary McKinsey, Ralph Adkinson, George Wynkoop, and Kevin Stouffer. We decided to take a chance and try out a new tour. We renamed it the Pop Whitten Pro Tour (PWPT), in honor of Pop Whitten.

During our first season, most of our stops were in Virginia and Hagerstown, with one stop in Charm City. We averaged 45 bowlers per stop.

During the second season, we expanded and included stops in Baltimore, Hagerstown, Walkersville, and Village Lanes in Frederick, MD. We increased our average entries to 76 bowlers per stop.

During our third season, we averaged 113 bowlers per stop. Since then, we have done really well in maintaining a high average of bowlers per stop. During the last 4 years, we have had over 220 members per year and we have expanded the Master’s and the tour prize list.

When we originally met, we had no idea how the tour would grow and become what it is today. We put a lot of work into it to get it started and we have reaped the benefits from all of the great bowlers who join us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it such a success.

Thank You, Ken, Gary, George, Ralph, Kevin
